From Airport La Romana to Bayahibe

Most comfortable is by taxi - approx. 20 US$. Tell the driver that you want to go to the genuine village Bayahibe, otherwise you could end up in the huge resorts which they also call Bayahibe. All taxi drivers have mobil phones, so it will be a good idea if you have our phone number with you and the driver could call us, if he doesn't know how to find us.

Alternate you can travel by public bus. Leave the airport and walk to the road ( 1/4 mile ), cross it and on the opposite side of the road ( driving to east ) stop a public bus with a hand signal. There are no bus stops. The buses, called guaguas stop everywhere along the road where somebody gives a sign. This buses are are small ones for 12 pax, not always have a sign which shows their route. You have to get in the bus to Bayahibe ( about 2 US$ ).

The bus is going to Bayahibe. Here is a bus stop which is only 1 min to walk from our house.

From the airport Santo Domingo to Bayahibe

Most comfortable by taxi- approx. 90 US$

Some travel directions if you come by car:

If you come from Santo Domingo you have to travel on the autopista ( kind of highway ) to San Pedro de Macorix, you can drive through San Pedro, which is quiet easy or use the road which is longer, but going around the town. Look always for signs saying La Romana. La Romana has a road going partely around the town, only a short part is going through La Romana, but you donīt have to drive through the center. Look for signs saying Punta Cana/ Bavaro. 15 min behind La Romana you will pass the river Chavon and 5 min behind the river you will see the signs " Bayahibe" on the road showing you that you will have to turn right ( see the pictures above ).

You will drive that road down, 5 min, until you come to a cross, to the left you would end in the All Inclusiv Resorts, the Dominicus Hotels, you have to go right after 1 km you are at the entrance of the village, again a cross, right you would get on a parking area for the buses for the day tourists going to Saona, you go left, you get in the main street, pass the police station on your right side. After 200 m you will see left a dive center then a small Dominican supermarket called Colmado Alfonso, here you turn left and again left. You can see Villa Iguana in 100 m distance on the left side ( see the pictures above ).
